Vilis Dambiņš: Losses Incurred by Khersonoblenergo due to Russia's Invasion Come to Over UAH 2 billion

According to initial data, 30% of Khersonblenergo's assets have been destroyed or stolen by the Russians.

The company's losses from Russian activities within Ukrainian territory now total over UAH 2 billion.

The announcement was made by Vilis Dambiņš, a shareholder in Khersonoblenergo's parent conglomerate VS Energy.

"This estimate is preliminary. I think that we will get a clearer picture of the extent of the damage after the Kherson Oblast has been liberated completely. When we get the precise figures, we will bring claims against Russia in international courts. Our attorneys are preparing the relevant materials," explained Dambiņš.

The occupiers have stolen infrastructure belonging to Khersonoblenergo and looted its equipment. Despite this, in those areas that have recently been liberated, despite the risk to their lives, Khersonoblenergo's are doing everything possible to restore light to the people at the earliest opportunity. The group's other businesses are supporting them by providing all the necessary material and technical support to facilitate such renovation works. Moreover, VS Energy Group is repairing energy infrastructure damaged by Russian shelling in various oblasts across Ukraine, and in particular in Zhytomyr, Kirovograd and Rivne oblasts.

"Russia must be held responsible for every minute of this unprovoked, barbarous and terrible war. I back the stance of Latvian President Egils Levits regarding the need to set up an international tribunal to punish Putin and all his cohorts and direct perpetrators of Russia's war against Ukraine," said Dambiņš.

Since the start of the war, VS Energy Group has donated more than UAH 68 million Ukrainian to support Ukraine's armed forces and territorial defence.

VS Energy International Ukraine unites five energy distribution companies – distribution system operators under a unified management system. More than 11,000 employees are employed by the companies run by the conglomerate.

Since 2014, VS Energy International Ukraine shareholders are European Union citizens: Valts Vīgants (Latvia), Vilis Dambiņš (Latvia), Artūrs Altbergs (Latvia), Oļegs Sizermans (Germany) and Marina Jaroslavska (Germany).

The company's shareholders and management have made a statement, condemning Russia's aggression and stressing that they will continue to support Ukraine's statehood, sovereignty and the democratic development of its society and economy.
